    Background

SOX-10 (SRY-Box Transcription Factor-10), SOX10 belong to the family of transcription factors, involved in the regulation of embryonic development. In cancer diagnostics, SOX10 identifies melanomas and tumors of neural crest origin. SOX10 is also highly expressed in astrocytomas, poorly differentiated glioblastomas, and in a majority of oligodendrogliomas.
